OBG

1. About the Department :  

        The department has three unit with one Professor, three Associate Professr, seven Assistant Prfessor and Three Senior Residents. Regular OPD, Ward Rounds , Surgeries including emergency and Elective both Obstetrics and Gyneacology are being performed along with speciality clinics ( Inferlity, Family planning, well women clinic, cancer detection clinic, menopause clinic and endocrine clinic) High risk pregnancy care and Gyneacology ,oncology services and facilities for minimal invasive surgeris like Laparoscopy hysteroscopy and colposcopy are also being performed. The department has an annual intake of 3 Post Graduate students with the regular UG and PG Teaching . The details of the ongoing Research work has been enclosed .the Govt programmes like ABARK and the programmes under the NHM like JSSK,JSY , PMSMA, ART and ICTC - 2 centre, Respectfull abortion care are being implemented successfully and carried out as per the norms .

As per the norms  of the NMC and RGUHS UG and PG teaching activities are carried ourt in the department by the teahing staff. SBA Training, PPIUCD, MTP, for  Doctors and Nurses. Teaching for ayurvedic students is done.

7. CME / Conference conducted:

 a) LIVE HYSTERO – LAPAROSCOPIC OPERATIVE WORKSHOP. A live hystero  –  laparoscopic operative workshop was conducted under the guidance of the Director  on 07/07/2022  from 8.30 am to 5 pm  in the Major Operation Theatre of the Main building of Mcgann  Teaching District Hospital   SIMS shimoga, in association with the Shimoga Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society Shimoga.   In house Faculty Dr Prashanth S, Dr Hema Mohan, Dr Ashwini Veeresh, Dr Smruthi C Raj, PGs, Interns along with the Invited Faculty from  – Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy IAGE - Dr Subhash Malya Endoscopic surgeon Kozhicode  Kerala state, from SOGS  Shimoga -  Dr Madhu Lakshmikantha, Dr Rajesh Eshwarappa  conducted the Workshop . A total of 10 cases  were operated by HYSTEROSCOPY  and LAPAROSCOPY successfully and around 85 doctors actively participated in the workshop.         

b) A RELOOK ON LABOR ANALGESIA.  A  CME programme was conducted by the Department of OBG under the guidance of the Director  on 18/06/2022  from 3pm to 5 pm  in the Conference hall  of the Main building of Mcgann  Teaching District Hospital   SIMS shimoga. The programme was attended by the Department of Anaesthesiology  OBG and private OBG practitioners .A total of 50 doctors attended the programme which was successfully conducted at SIMS, Shimoga. 

c) Cancer awareness and screening camp for women police personnel was conducted on internation women day for women police presonnel   abourt 45 women police attended the camp to whom cancer awareness  breast examination with papsmear test was conducted. The programme was atteded by superintendent of police, shivamogga adittion sp, dysp, the teaching staff of the department of obg and shimoga obstetrics and gynaecological society office bearers.
