Radiology

1. About the Department :

 

The department of Radio-diagnosis has been the backbone of district Mcgann teaching hospital right from its inception in 2007. It provides 24 x 7 services of X-ray, CT, MRI and ultrasound scans to the patient.

 

The department is equipped with

  • 4 static X-ray units (500mA-1, 600mA with fluoroscopy-2, and 300mA-1).
  • Mobile X-ray units -8.
  • Ultrasound machines-4 (Hitachi-ALOKA, Phillips affinity-50, Mindray DC-40, )  and (PHILLIPS INNOSIGHT)
  • State of the art CT and MRI machines ( CT-16 slice – Phillips and 128 slice- Phillips incisive   and 1.5 T MRI –Phillips Ingenia)

PG programme began from 2022, with 2 seats/ year. Given the large numbers of cases, the undergraduates and   post  graduates  have wealth of material  to learn from.

 The current team of faculty of Professor, Associate  professor , Assistant professor  and all the SRs are dedicated and  enthusiastic to build  the department  and are  working to  enhance students’ knowledge to   higher levels.

The department has qualified and dedicated technicians as backbone of the system.

  

AIMS  AND GOALS :  

Since we are at the  infancy of the PG programme, we aim to continuously organize  ourselves better and  train our PGs in a systematic way. We also aim and  hope to have a full fledged faculty in the coming years. 

We wish to hold CME programmes in  the department and do more  research work.

4. Academic activities (UG, PG teaching activities):

  • Weekly seminars, journal club and case presentations for PGs.
  • UG theory classes and clinical postings.
  • Informal practical teaching for the interns posted in the department.
  • Hands-on training to diploma and BSC medical imaging students in x-rays, CT and MRI and also conduct of their exams.
